# Introduction

**Custom Client** allows users to quickly and easily create device drivers for any serial, Ethernet or command-line devices where an off-the-shelf driver is not available. Typical applications include communication to weight scales, barcode scanners, RFID readers, GPS devices, LORA sensors and more. It can also be used to communicate to devices using well-known protocols such as IEC 62056-5-21 modes A to D (also known as DLMS) and 1-Wire.

**Custom Client** is an out-of-the-box solution that is easy to set up, configure, and manage. Only basic knowledge of communication protocols, the protocol specification and the target device or a simulator are required to get started.
