# Introduction

The **Modbus Gateway** module is used to increase the number of simultaneous connections to Modbus devices whose available connections are restricted, e. g. when it is necessary to connect two applications to a device that communicates in Modbus and only allows a single connection, it is possible to overcome such limitation by using the **N3uron Modbus Gateway** module.

The Modbus Gateway module supports both TCP and Serial communications (Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and RTU over TCP) and an unlimited number of connections.
